FEATURES
Utilizing highly corrosion resistant material for tubing is critical to the life expectancy of the part. Once the tubing is compromised by corrosion or road damage, it can change the functionality of the catalytic converter and will need to be replaced.
By utilizing mandrel bends, MagnaFlow replicates the OEM flow characteristics to avoid having a negative impact on the vehicle’s fuel economy and avoids any increase in heat concentration that can cause the steel to become brittle, prone to cracking and ultimately leading to part failure.
Increased backpressure = decreased fuel economy. By utilizing stamped merge collectors, MagnaFlow replicates the OEM flow characteristics to avoid having a negative impact on the vehicle’s fuel economy and avoids any increase in heat concentration that can cause the steel to become brittle, prone to cracking and ultimately leading to part failure.
MagnaFlow prides itself in providing quality catalytic converters by using 308 stainless steel MIG welds, robotic welds where applicable, and adhering to strict welding standards jointly developed between MagnaFlow and Lincoln Electric. The result is higher quality, longer lasting products for our customers.
Since hangers bear the weight of the whole catalytic converter, it’s critical for them to be OE sized, stainless steel, barbed hangers in order to maximize the life expectancy of the part.
The single torque point ensures even clamping force is spread around the circumference of the mounting surface and is easy to install, even in tight spaces. Unlike a U-Bolt style clamp, the Torca clamp will not distort the exhaust pipes allowing for ultimate adjustment.
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
Our industry-leading Research & Development facility combines advanced blue-light 3D scanning, CAD modeling, rapid prototyping, and in-house emissions testing to develop catalytic converters with exceptional fitment, durability, and compliance. Using state-of-the-art scanning technology in a climate-controlled metrology lab, we accurately capture vehicle geometry and component data to validate fitment and optimize manufacturing processes. Supported by rapid prototyping capabilities and in-house 5-gas emissions testing, our streamlined development cycle allows us to bring innovative catalytic converter solutions to market quickly while maintaining the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and functionality.
STATE-OF-THE-ART MANUFACTURING
Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility combines advanced CNC machinery, robotic welding systems, and precision automation to produce high-quality catalytic converters with exceptional consistency and accuracy. Backed by ISO 9001-certified processes and cutting-edge technology, we deliver catalytic converter solutions built for long-term durability and reliability our customers can count on.
IN-HOUSE CATALYST COATING
As one of the few manufacturers in the United States with in-house catalyst coating capabilities, we maintain direct control over one of the most critical aspects of catalytic converter production. Our proprietary, custom-engineered coating equipment utilizes advanced suction-based technology to apply washcoat and precious metals with exceptional precision and consistency.
By controlling the entire coating process in-house, we optimize catalyst loadings, maximize the effectiveness of every substrate, and ensure consistent quality from start to finish. The result is a catalytic converter engineered to deliver reliable emissions compliance, that will keep the check engine light off, and keep our customers on the road with confidence.
Types of Catalytic Converters
Direct-Fit Catalytic Converters
A direct-fit catalytic converter connects easily into your exhaust system without modifications. Depending on your vehicle’s setup, it may connect directly to a manifold or fit elsewhere in the exhaust system. It replaces the original part and installs quickly with simple bolt-on connections—no cutting or welding needed.
Manifold Catalytic Converters
Some vehicles use a manifold catalytic converter, which connects directly to the engine’s cylinder block. This part serves as the starting point of your exhaust system, combining the functions of both the manifold and the catalytic converter.
Universal Catalytic Converters
A universal catalytic converter is a cost-effective choice that fits many different vehicles. However, it usually requires cutting, welding, or other modifications during installation, since it doesn’t bolt directly onto your exhaust system like a direct-fit part. Professional installation is recommended to ensure a proper fit and safe operation.
