Team MagnaFlow + Camburg Strikes Back and Wins King of the Hammers 2024!

The King of the Hammers is back in Johnson Valley, California and has brought forth over 530 teams to compete in these races. Although, KOH 2024 was not originally on our race schedule, the MagnaFlow + Camburg team decided to head to Johnson Valley following our Parker 400 results.

Development and Testing

After facing power steering issues at the Parker 400, the MagnaFlow and Camburg team immediately went to work. We assembled a dream team of people and companies to find a solution ASAP. The solution? Revamping the entire power steering system using some new and exciting products just breaking into the off-road realm.

While we weren't planning on racing King of the Hammers, we wanted to test the new power steering in race conditions before the upcoming Mint 400. So, we packed up and decided to test the revamped setup in the T2 Spec Truck race at King of the Hammers. This was also perfect timing to test out our new Camburg monobloc racing brake calipers, which we've had in development.

The Prologue Race - Saturday

The King of the Hammers Desert Challenge spans two days, featuring a prologue race on Saturday and the main race on Sunday.

Kicking off the prologue race, Kyle Jergenson took on the course, a mix of tighter uphill rocky sections at the beginning then opening up to the higher speed desert terrain. Kyle threw down a fast lap and charged to the end to qualify 2nd with a time of 00:31:51 just 10 seconds behind the 1st place T2 qualifier. The new power steering and brake calipers worked flawlessly out of the gate and we were ready for Sunday’s race.

T2 Spec Truck Race - Sunday

On Sunday, starting 6th, Kyle and co-driver Shawn quickly advanced taking the lead in their class.

Navigating through the challenging terrain and battling dust, the team never wavered, crossing the line and securing a race finish. With the combined times between both races, the team was crowned the King of the Hammers Desert Challenge T2 Spec truck winner! Their time also put them 3rd overall, factoring in the Unlimited trucks and buggies.

The team would like to extend a huge thank you to our sponsors including, The Beast Unleashed, Scosche, Sig Sauer, 5.11 Tactical, KMC Wheels, Rigid Industries, Bully Dog, Decked, Optima Batteries, BF Goodrich, Rugged Radios, Scrubblade, Steel-It, FK Rod Ends, and R3Di.
