Featured Build: Kate, Now A V8 - xMOD Series Upgrade

When it comes to overlanding-ready rigs, most aren’t as capable and well equipped as Ali Sedeghat’s Jeep Wrangler JKU, affectionately known as Kate the Jeep (Ig: @katethejeep). Ali stopped by our Tech Center recently with the goal of upgrading his exhaust system to match Kate’s new V8 post LS swap.

You see, until recently, Ali was running Kate’s Pentastar V6 that was pushed to its limit by a RIPP Supercharger. I say that it was pushed to the limit because it ended up blowing the motor (hence the recent LS upgrade). With its stock engine, Kate was rocking a MagnaFlow Rock Crawler Series Cat-Back Performance Exhaust System. Ali loved the sound of the engine with this setup and the amount of ground clearance it offered.

xMOD Upgrade

However, things took a turn with the death of Kate’s previous powerplant. The Jeep’s new heart was (of course) completely incompatible with its existing MagnaFlow performance exhaust kit, so the garage that did the LS swap also built a one-off exhaust system as a stopgap measure. The reason the exhaust was only a temporary solution was because of how obnoxiously loud it made the vehicle. While a loud exhaust is certainly fun sometimes, it can become tiring when trying to make one’s way to a camping spot while appreciating the natural surroundings.

Because of the heavily modified nature of Kate the Jeep, including her new engine, a custom exhaust solution was our only option. The need to keep the new V8’s manners in check led our team to one conclusion: the best solution for this Wrangler was our new xMOD Series Universal Muffler with 3” inlet/outlet (#14009). The modular nature of the muffler allows Ali to install the NDT Module for a smooth, refined engine note that utilizes MagnaFlow’s No Drone Technology (NDT) to keep droning noises in check, especially at cruising speeds.

Maximum Modularity

On days when Ali feels more like rock crawling than overlanding, the Muffler Module (essentially a cap for the muffler’s extra port) and xTreme Delete Module (which turns the extra port into a straight pipe) are just a few turns of the wrench away. Kate’s revamped exhaust system terminates in a turn-down exit designed to stay high up off the ground and clear of any potential obstacles.

The unparalleled flexibility afforded by Kate’s new xMOD Universal Muffler now allows Ali and his family to have the perfect exhaust setup for any relaxed camping trip or rowdy adventure out to the rocks.
