What you missed at Overland Expo West 2021

We had a blast the other weekend at Overland Expo West 2021 in Flagstaff, Arizona! It was great seeing some familiar faces while making new friends and showing off the latest performance exhaust kits and products we have to offer. Namely, our all-new xMOD Series Universal Performance Mufflers (#14006 and #14009), and, of course, our increasingly popular Overland Series Performance Exhaust Systems.

The MagnaFlow Variety Pack

MagnaFlow Booth at Overland Expo 2021

Our booth featured quite the stable of ruggedized rigs representing a variety of exhaust systems and solutions for anyone interesting in enhancing their ride with MagnaFlow’s signature sound and dyno-proven performance gains. The headlining vehicles in the MagnaFlow booth included Camburg’s Ford Bronco build and our own Project Overland Bison, with each sporting Overland Series Exhaust Systems (#19559 and #19569, respectively).

Camburg Racing's 2021 Ford Bronco

The Bronco had visitors to our booth absolutely buzzing, not only because of how rare a sight the brand-new bucking beast still is, but also due to the just-released Overland Series Exhaust System. The Overland Series system for the Bronco launched alongside a similar exhaust system we created for the Jeep Wrangler JLU (#19592), expanding the product line to cover even more popular overlanding platforms. Project Overland Bison also got quite a lot of attention from those who have been following the build on Instagram and in forums.

Rounding out the pack, we had a display featuring the all-new xMOD Series Universal Performance Muffler, a Jeep Gladiator JT sporting a cat-back performance exhaust system from our Rock Crawler Series (#19486) and a Chevy Silverado rocking a Street Series cat-back system. Attendees loved checking out all the different vehicles, and many of them had some very thoughtful questions about the new xMOD Series Universal Muffler that we were more than happy to answer.

Visitors to our booth were keen on the purpose-built nature of our Overland Series exhaust systems. A few went so far as to place an order for one of the systems on the spot. Luckily for those folks, we were also running a special promotion at the event, so they also each ended up walking away with a special MF Overland branded Coleman cooler as a gift with their purchase.

 An Overland Playground

There are many scenic spots across the vast United States, but it’s hard to imagine a more perfect venue for Overland Expo West than the Fort Tuthill campground in Flagstaff. Situated deep within the shady bristles of the world’s largest ponderosa pine forest, the snowy San Francisco peaks, nearby Grand Canyon, Navajo Nation and Sedona, the entire area gives off a vibe that inspires one to reconnect with nature and appreciate the beauty of Coconino County’s varied landscapes.

The event was far more than a perfect backdrop, as the campground itself teemed with enthusiasm for overlanding, the latest gear and the unbeatable majesty of the great outdoors. Classes, lectures and demonstrations took place throughout the weekend, catering to everyone from beginners to those dedicated to living off the grid.

We ended up doing a few demos ourselves. In addition to showing what we mean by our “signature sound” to anyone interested, MagnaFlow Spokesman Richard Waitas even did a quick Overland Series install on Rachel Denney’s Lexus GX470 right inside the nearby Goose Gear booth.

Warm Reunions, Surprising Sights and an Awesome Crowd

Like with our pals over at Goose Gear, we also had the chance to catch up with plenty of our other collaborators and industry partners. Casey Currie and the Currie Racing crew were there, as well as our friends at Expedition Overland. In fact, we recently finished building an exhaust for “Sampson,” Team XO’s 200 Series Toyota Land Cruiser. They also brought their 4Runner to the show, which boasts a MF-built exhaust system as well.

We were surprised by how many OEMs were at the event. Ram was there showing off the new Rebel, and GMC had their updated Canyon on display, to name just a couple. Another thing we found intriguing were some extremely cool, kitted-out Mercedes Sprinter vans. While it may not have exactly been a surprise to see such vehicles at an overland show—due to the popularity of the people-mover with the van life crowd—it was fascinating to check out how people have set up these esoteric, off-roading abodes to suit their nomadic lifestyles.

All in all, the weekend was an utter success. We made the trek out to the expo to demonstrate our latest technologies and products to the public and couldn’t be happier with the warm the reception we received. The other part of our mission was to better understand our customers and what they are looking for in an overland or off-road performance exhaust system, as well as to get feedback on the awesome ones we’ve created thus far. Thank you to all the attendees for your interest and enthusiasm in MagnaFlow! It was great to see how engaged and excited people were with what we’ve done so far, as well as what we have in store for the future.
