GARAGE TOUR – WHAT DRIVES JOEY LOGANO?
When MagnaFlow Ambassador and NASCAR Cup Series driver Joey Logano invited us to North Carolina to check out his garage, we jumped at the opportunity. Joey’s cars were on display at Clutch Studios in Huntersville, so we stopped by and had a chance to chat with him about the reasoning behind his rides.
Right off the bat Joey made it clear that his most important factor when it comes to choosing a vehicle is simply that he thinks its cool. Since he spends much of the year travelling from race to race as the driver of the No. 22 Shell Pennzoil Ford Mustang for Team Penske, Joey wants to drive something he really connects with, and often that attractive aspect is the story behind a given car or truck.
For example, Joey’s Factory Five truck, a heavily customized ’35 Ford pickup, was conceived as “the ultimate hot rod that you can do anything with.” His requirements were simple: “to be able to drive it down the road. I wanted to be able to take it to the track if I wanted to and go fast, and I wanted to drift. I wanted to do some cool things with it.” The truck has some interesting road manners as a result of the race-winning cup engine its running, but it more than gets the job done.
Alternatively, his “Mach 22” ’71 Mach 1 Mustang is one step closer to “reality.” Not only is it a fun car to drive, but it’s as comfortable riding around town as it is heading on a trip up to the mountains. Just throw a couple bags in the back and this baby is ready for a weekend getaway.
The last of his classic Fords is a dependable panel truck. This stalwart ’56 Ford delivery truck “is the everyday driver.” Not only does this “ultimate sleeper” have some standouts looks compared to your average van, but it has the space and storage to get done whatever needs doing.
Rounding out Joey’s All-Ford garage are a couple brand-new Broncos, one of which is the 22nd ever produced First Edition ’21 example featuring the mighty Sasquatch Edition trim package. The car is very special to him and a direction he felt he had to go in as a Ford racing driver. He also picked up a ’22 Big Bend version with a soft top to experience what each of these bucking horses has to offer.
However, we weren’t just in town to take a look at his rides. Joey wanted us to upgrade the exhaust systems on both his Broncos as well. We’ll be covering both installations in detail soon! Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter to see and hear what a professional stock car driver expects from his Bronco exhaust.
