R&R: Casey Currie Tackles the Rubicon for Jeepers Jamboree 2021
A couple weeks ago, MagnaFlow brand ambassador Casey Currie took his family and a couple of his customized Jeeps up to the legendary Rubicon Trail in Northern California for Jeepers Jamboree 2021. The event, which celebrates its 69th anniversary this year, is an awesome weekend getaway that lasts three to four days and sets off from the town of Georgetown, CA.
From there, attendees traverse the mighty Rubicon until they reach the Rubicon Springs campground, where they then relax and enjoy good food, quality company and live music for a few days before finishing the rest of the trail. The trek is intended for off-road vehicles and enthusiasts of all skill levels, with the only requirement being that attendees must at least be 16 years old. As such, trail guides and mechanics are always close by during the journey along the trail to render aid to anyone in need.
Hitting The Trail
Currie was there for some fun, family time and the peace that comes with temporarily unplugging from our increasingly digital day-to-day lives. In his words, “there's no phone service or internet so everyone is interacting with one another and telling stories.” He also relished the opportunity to put his thoroughly prepped JL and JT Jeeps through their paces.
With upgraded wheels, tires, front and rear axles, springs, shocks, winches, tunes and more, these vehicles could handle whatever the trail could throw their way. The JL features a MagnaFlow Jeep Wrangler Off Road Pro Series Cat-Back Performance Exhaust System (#17125), while a MagnaFlow Jeep Gladiator Rock Crawler Series Cat-Back Performance Exhaust System (#19486) has been fitted on the JT. As a result, both rigs offer great performance and sound, in addition to improved ground clearance and departure angles. Both Jeeps also feature formidable skid plates and rock rails to ensure their bodies stay protected, just in case.
Campground Comforts
Once at camp, Currie’s crew enjoyed live music, familiar friendly faces, the great outdoors and three square meals a day. “It was just a great trip,” he said. “Lots of hiking and Jeeping with great food and great company.” That may explain why this is Currie’s seventh year attending Jeepers Jamboree, and why he’s looking forward to seeing the event grow. He brought his wife, Ali Currie, along this year. “So, I went all out on a queen air mattress that we squished into a four-person tent. Slept like a baby!” In addition to spending time with his wife and having fun with his Jeeps, Casey enjoyed hiking up the river to a quiet little watering hole where he could catch a few fish between hikes.
After the trip, he returned with this message: “Everyone needs to do the Rubicon at least once, it's one of most beautiful and scenic trails. If you do it during Jeepers Jamboree weekend you don't have to worry about bringing in food, [since] they cater each meal as if it was an adult 5th grade camp. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Plus, they have live bands perform both Friday and Saturday night that always put on a killer performance. Get your rig ready and let's go on some more adventures!”
