FA Motorsport in Huntington Beach, California, is operated by 25-year old automotive performance upstart, Andy Barger. Besides knowing the intimate ins and outs of automotive performance, young Andy's other claim to fame is that he grew up at the knee of one of Orange County California's most knowledgeable car guys, his father Wayne Barger, the well-known vehicle merchant and performance buff. The senior Barger now operates Fleet Auto Brokers, a subsidiary of Andy's company, FA Motorsports.

"I introduced the$1,200 performance package some years ago," explains Wayne, "after some considerable research in a quest for reasonably-priced performance enhancements that would add horsepower without adversely affecting fuel mileage, add-ons that would go happily down the road and provide the owner with lots of trouble-free motoring.

"Frankly, it was my answer to customers who asked about superchargers," continues Wayne. "I've never been a supercharger fan. I have found them to be noisy, fuel inefficient and, in most cases, the course of resultant mechanical problems. I felt that I had compiled a performance package that would add additional horsepower to stock engine, not adversely affect fuel mileage, be reasonably quiet, and not lead to any mechanical problems-all for a whole lots less then the cost to install a supercharger." Andy Barger adds, " Unfortunately, we've had to up the price slightly for my dad's basic performance package to keep up with rising prices. Dad's original package included a computer module and air intake and catback exhaust system. Today FA Motersports, we are offering a throttle body spacer and the new plug -in computer programmer from JET Performance Products, a CGS air intake and a cat-back performance exhaust from MagnaFlo, all for $1,295 for the 5.3L Chevy Silverado. We also offer modified performance MAF sensors as optional. And in addition, we have similar packages for Ford and Dodges. We upgrade new and late-model vehicles for perfomance-orinted owners and we do lots of older vehicles for folks who want to keep up with the horsepower of newer models."
