pair of mufflers, the stock exhaust is pretty quiet, which is great if you like that kind of thing. For those of us with a more aggressive character in mind, there's no better sound than a rumbling exhaust. A MagnaFlow cat back system was bolted up, and while it looks lovely with all its shiny stainless steel, it's still fairly quiet at idle, thanks to the replacement resonator that can be easily deleted or replaced by an x-pipe, but give it a stomp 'et voila', a very nice throaty note eminated from the two 4" chromed tips out the back. Lastly, we moved around to the front end and plugged in our JET performance module reported to add 22 horsepower (by the far the easiest horsepower out there), and a Stage II air intake system from AFE.
Although we may still loose the resonator on the exhaust, everything done so far has added exactly what we wanted it to do. The springs give the car a great stance without rubbing our sidewalls off, the JETchip and AFE setup add power you can feel immediately, and the exhaust sounds absolutely wicked inside the car, with little to no drone on the highway. As for wheel and tire package, you'll have to wait for another installment of our build to see the full effect.
In terms of what's next, it doesn't take a genius to recognize that we've only scratched this car's surface (not literally, of course). Who knows what the future holds for Mr. Magnum? Perhaps some forced induction, or maybe some special body bits? What about the insde of our ride. We won't say anything but this: check out next month's issue for the first part of making this big family car go BOOM, BOOM (hint, hint).
