At Rapid Transit, technician Jason Garcia positions the ’04 F-150 on his lift in preparation for installing MagnaFlow’s new side-by-side twin pipe cat-back. |
Although the stock press-bent exhaust system with its big ugly muffler did its job, we were about to learn that it didn’t evacuate the exhaust gases as quickly or efficiently a the MagnaFlow cat-back, nor did it provide that wonderful sound. |
Jason easily separated the “crimped” joint in the exhaust piping just before the stock muffler. |
He then disconnected the factory hanger in front of the muffler. |
Jason also unhitched the remaining stock hangers holding the section of exhaust piping from before the muffler to the end. |
With a helping hand from a colleague, Jason freed the major section of the stock exhaust fromt eh muffler over the rear axle to the end and removed it. |
Here’s a close look at the stock exhaust system (top) and the mandrel bent, still-wrapped Magnaflow cat-back. |
The Magnaflow polished stainless steel straight-through, unbaffled muffler with that incredible sound jumped into place easily. |
The stock hangers before and after the muffler are reused to secure the new system. |
The highly polished side-by-side twin exhaust tips which exit just forward for the passenger’s side rear wheel are carefully positioned. |
