15. Install the new pre-muffler pipes and loosely tighten. You'll probably need to adjust them later for a perfect fit.
16. Install the new muffler and U-bolt clamps to the passenger side.
17. If your Mustang is lowered, as ours is, with shortened shocks like Tokico Illuminas, brace the passenger side axle and unbolt the shock. We found that we definitely needed that extra one inch of drop that the normal suspension would provide in order to get the new pipe up and over the axle.
18. Install the U-bolt clamp on the back side of the passenger side muffler, fit the axle pipe, then adjust and lossely tighten.
19. Raise the rear axle once again and reinstall the right side lower shock mount bolt.
20. Attach the U-bolt and muffler to the left side pipe and tighten loosely.
21. Adjust the mufflers to level as close as possible.
22. Slip the driver's side axle pipe over the axle and attach it to the muffler.
23. Slide the exhaust tips over the pipe, then into their hanger brackets.
24. Go back over al the U-bolt fittings with an impact gun. This is a good time to check all of the bolts in the system, including the o2 sensors again.
25. Adjust the tips to allow for expansion of up to 3/4-inch, then tight-en the tip clamps with a socket wrench.
26. MagnaFlow recommends adding a tack weld on the bolts at the clamp on the tips if the vehicle will be used for high RPM use. Since we spend consid-erable amounts of time bouncing off the rev limiter, we had those bolts welded. |
