Ok. Our pony looks aggressive, and will drift competently ( with a suitable
driver in the seat), but we are getting tired of telling people that the
engine is basically stock. Stock sucks. We want more power, and we want
it right now!

Being huge Mario Andretti fans (he's
an incredible talent; who says product
endorsements never work?) we put
in a call to Tanya Oxford-Jacquot at
MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust. Her
extensive product knowledge quickly
pointed us toward their 2.5-inch Tru-X
weld-in crossmember pipe & matching
diameter Cat-back free-flowing muffler
system. Clearly, if we were going to make |
more power from out little GT, this was a brillant place to start.
Although we might make a little more
overall horsepower with Magnaflow's
catalytic converter elimination system, constant tests by the emissions-federales out West tossed cold weather upon that choice. We need to remain street legal because of the distances traveled to motorsport events here in California. |

We also opted for the "quiet" muffler system, even though Tanya pointed out that most Mustang owners elect for the louder unit. We opted for the Teddy Roosevelt phil-osophy of "walk softly and carry a big stick."
With promises of substantial incr-eases in horsepower and torque ringing in our ears, we packed up and headed out to Magnaflow's Rancho Santa Margarita, California, Tech Center - a high-tech testing and fabricating facility-camera in hand, ready to record all of the step by step installation action, followed by a post dyno run. |
