By now most of you have heard about the '99 Cobra's lack of power. The exhaust system, intake, and EEC-V programming are the reported culprits. As such, it's no surprise exhaust manufacturers are scrambling to come out with their own, better-flowing systems for the lackluster snakes. One of the first companies with a system in the pipeline was Car Sound Exhaust Systems in Rancho Santa Margarita, California.

Cobra exhaust is capable of belting out another 13 horses to the rear wheels by simply bolting on its MagnaFlow aluminized-steel, 2 1/2-inch, mandrel-bent pipes and aluminum mufflers. Since many new Cobra owners are pretty disappointed with the car's power output, we're sure 13 extra ponies are a welcome addition. Ford is working to fix the problem with new factory parts, but there's no substitute for the growl of an aftermarket exhaust.

MagnaFlow after-cat system at GRC Performance in Mission Viejo, California. Phil and Umberto Gizzi, owners of GRC, helped us out with the amazingly quick installation. We would also like to thank Rancho Santa Margarita Ford for letting us borrow the black '99 Cobra on its showroom floor. We loaded the car onto the rack and hoisted her up for a better look at the chassis. The beauty of this new exhaust system was its ease of installation. It took us about seven minutes to remove the old system and replace with the new one.
