MagnaFlow vs. Stock
The MagnaFlow system has mandrel bends for less exhaust restriction than the stock system.
Installing the MagnaFlow tailpipes
One of Springfield Motorsport's Mustang wizards - Paul Taylor - fits the tail pipes onto their hangars. In this step it is only necessary to put the tail pipes in place, alignment will be done later.

First, raise the vehicle either on a lift or using jack stands. If you use jack stands raise the vehicle as high as possible because the rear part of the exhaust system needs room to be manovered for removal and installation.
After the car is raised and secure, loosen the four bolts that connect the factory cat-back system to the factory H-pipe. Do not remove the bolts completely, rather make sure that you have loosened the bolts enough to be able to remove them later. This will also help keep the system secure while you cut. If you have a 1999 or later SVT Cobra you will not need to cut the system. For GT and pre-1999 SVT Cobras, begin cutting the exhaust system about three inches behind the muffler. (If you remove the system carefully you can possibly sell it to those less fortunate, like single exhaust V6 Mustang owners looking to convert to a dual exhaust system.)
Once you have completely cut through the factory exhaust, remove the bolts holding the factory mufflers and take them off.
Remove the factory tail pipes. You may find that a bit of WD-40 or other penetrating spray will help facilitate removing the metal exhaust hangers from their rubber mounts.
After the factory exhaust is removed you're ready to begin installing the MagnaFlow tail pipes. You will probably want to keep the protective bubble wrap over the ends of the polished stainless steel tips to keep from scratching them during installation. (Be sure to take them off before you start the car though!) Once again, some WD-40 will make getting the exhaust mounts into the hangers easier. Let the tail pipes hang for now.
