Typical "Baffled" Muffler
Notice how the baffles "split" the exhaust flow and can cause a restriction.

MagnaFlow Muffler
The MagnaFlow exhaust has no baffles to impede and restrict flow.

. Of course the main advantage of the MagnaFlow system is that it is a mandrel bent system. This prevents the exhaust tubing from crimping down as it is bent into shape. The factory crimps in the tubing make the inside diameter smaller around areas where it is bent. This causes exhaust flow restrictions robbing horsepower, particularly at higher RPMs. With mandrel bent tubing the inside diameter stays the same through the bends so there is no restriction.

While the MagnaFlow system has mandrel bent tubing, so too do other cat-back systems. What separates MagnaFlow mufflers from tradtional "turbo"-type mufflers and baffled mufflers is their straight through design. Unlike these types of mufflers the MagnaFlow's straight through design does not impede the exhaust on its way out.

Installation is relatively easy and should take no more than an hour and a half. You'll need a jack, jack stands, a hack saw or "sawz-all", ratchet, and sockets. Some penetrating oil may be helpful if your factory exhaust has been on for a long time and the bolts are difficult to remove. Since it was fairly cold outside we opted to take Project Mongoose99 to Springfield Motorsport, in Lorton, Virginia to have the installation done. Their shop has 8 bays, lifts, all the tools necessary, and most importantly . . . HEAT!
